Relations with Regional and International Accounting Bodies

The Fiji Institute of Accountants is a full registered member of two international accounting organisations:

The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), which is the international parent body for most national accounting bodies in the world, with a membership of 167 bodies in 127 countries; the FIA became a member of the IFAC in 1977 - the year that IFAC was formed.

The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) which is the regional body representing most accounting bodies in the Asia Pacific region, founded, in its current form, in 1960, in Canberra at the 2nd Far East Conference of Accountants. It has a membership of 31 accounting bodies in 25 countries. FIA became a member in 1984.

The Fiji Institute maintains close links with two other regional member bodies:

CPA Australia, the largest of three IFAC member bodies based in Australia, with a membership in excess of 150,000 members; and

The Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
